What is a meter reading and why is it so important?  A meter reading is the copy count on your printer/ copy machine. It keeps track of the machines output.  The importance of a meter reading is that it for billing purposes. Most service companies charge you per page.

According to your Maintenance Contract you have with ACT Group/ Advanced Copy (or your other service provider) it is your responsibility to provide them will a meter reading. The meter reading must be given before the billing date of your contract.  The billing date can be monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually depending on what terms were set-up in your contract. Reminders to submit your meter reading are sent to you 3 times before it is due. This can be via email, fax, or phone. The best way to remember when your meter reading is due is to write it down in your personal calendar. If you are not sure when your meter reading is due or if you’d like to sign up for automatic reminders give us/them a call. If they do not receive the meter reading by the deadline then it is automatically estimated. If the meter is over estimated then you will end up paying more than you should.

For many, getting the meter reading seems like a daunting task when in reality it is very quick and simple. Finding the meter reading varies from machine to machine but it is never a time consuming task.  Retrieving the meter usually involves pushing 2-4 buttons and then the machine will either display the number of printed pages or it will print out a sheet with the totals. It is well worth taking the one minute it takes to retrieve the meter reading then paying for an over estimated meter reading.
